English for Corporates: Level Pre – Intermediate

Course objectives:

Level Pre – Intermediate aims to improve communication skills and help students confidently use English. The course helps students:
  • Expand vocabulary and communication structures in everyday workplace settings
    Develop basic presentation skills and concise reporting
  • Standardize English pronunciation, confidently communicate with foreign customers
  • Students achieve output level: Level A2+ Speaking

Class organization form:

  • Offline classes are held at the Enterprise, or at the EIV Office, or at the location requested by the Enterprise
  • Online classes are held on online tools via the MyEIV learning system, Google Meet or Zoom
Classes are organized in a variety of forms with 1 teacher for 1 – 3 students, or concentrated classes with a maximum of 15 students with the same input English level.

Course duration:

Total 80 hours, each session is 90 minutes. Students self-study 20 – 40 hours on the MyEIV learning system.

The course is taught by 30% Vietnamese Teachers – 70% Native Teachers, or 100% Native Teachers depending on the students’ input level and the training needs of the Enterprise.

Curriculumn:

The course includes 3 stages with the topics:

  • Stage 1 (30 hours): Daily working

          + Work tasks and activities

          + A company’s story

          + Traveling for work

Project: Role-play – Arranging a meeting

  • Stage 2 (30 hours): Trading plans

           + Socializing with clients

           + Placing an order

           + Making agreements

Project: Meeting – Discussing proposals in a meeting

  • Stage 3 (20 hours): Professional developments

           + Presenting about company’s products

           + Interviewing skills

Project: Giving a short presentation to advertise for company services

  • Communication skills (Speaking & Listening): Talking about people and roles, Making agreements, Talking about projects, Problems with teleconferencing, Arranging a meeting, Socialising with clients, Placing an order, Talking and leaving phone messages, Job interviews
  • Writing skills: Write and response to an email to schedule a meeting, Give instructions, Making an announcement, Making an update email, Making a description for a company website, Writing an advertisement for services, Writing an employee profile.

Business Skills: Scheduling meetings, Giving instructions, Making arrangements/suggestions, Giving presentations about a product, Making interview questions

EIV uses and compiles textbooks from the book Business Partner A2, including:

  • Coursebook & Audio
  • Teacher’s book & Teacher’s Materials
  • Workbook & Audio
  • Videos

Classroom testing and management:

With the English Breakthrough course (Level Elementary), students will take 2 tests:
  • Mid-term test: after finishing 30 hours and 60 hours of study, students will take a test in the form of a project or a short presentation, simulating a situation.
  • The final test includes a paper test and a communication skills test. With the paper test, students are assessed on Listening – Comprehension skills, tested on vocabulary and sentence structure usage, and writing skills. With the communication skills test, native teachers will directly grade the test; students will take the test in the form of an oral interview with the teacher, or make a short presentation, simulating a situation.
EIV specialists monitor and manage classes on the MyEIV learning materials system and send reports to the Board of Directors regularly. The report includes:
  • Course program and textbook
  • Roll-up of classes
  • Reminder system and assignment, submission, homework grading
  • Learning results report
